Tracking Blog With Google Analytics

The First question that comes into mind after creating a blog or website is: How to track your website statistics? or Where traffic comes from?

There are many sites that helps you to track your the site traffic. Feedjit is also a good thing to know your traffic stats. It helps you to estimate your traffic by showing recent 50 unique users in how much time and from which country and which operating system.

You can also check your traffic stats in blogger by clicking on stats tab on blogger. It will shows your popular post of the day, week, month or all time. It will show your popular post traffic source and audiance of your site. It is a good thing for bloggers to check traffic of their blog.

You can also track your blog with google analytics. Flow the instructions given below:

First you need to Sign Up For your Google Account. Then go to google.com/analytics and click on access analytics account. Then click on sign up link or button on page and It will redirect to page look like this as Given below:

Enter Your website or blog address in website URL field. Select Your account name field and enter name of account you want then select your country and time zone of your country and click continue

On next page enter your last name and first name on last name and first name field and country and click continue

Tick agree to terms and conditions and then click create new account tab and your account will be created. Now its time to embed this code on your blog or website.

The Next windows that show look like this:

In Fig above you need to right click anywhere inside the CODE edit box, to bring up the Options (context/pop-up) menu, and then left click on the SELECT ALL menu-item to select all of the code (script). When the code is selected right click anywhere over it, to bring up the Options menu again, but this time left click on the COPY menu-item to copy the code into memory (into the ClipBoard).

With the code now in memory all you need to do is paste it into each web page you want tracking (analyzing), immediately above the </body>command. In the meantime, scroll to the bottom of the code page and click on its FINISH button to complete the whole SIGN UP process.

Only when you have pasted the code into each web page and then uploaded those web pages to your website will you be able to viewed your analyzed statistics. Note. Google may take time (i.e. 48 hours to a week) to properly analyze your web pages. So for now SIGN OUT of your account, wait a couple of days and then SIGN IN to your account to check your website's statistics. Sign in by going to www.google.com/analytics/. The window appears look like this:

Click on view report to view the statistics of your website and thats All.

If you need to retrieve your tracking code, for whatever reason(s), first sign in to your Google Analytics account and then click on the EDIT link to the far right of the VIEW REPORT link. From there, click on the CHECK STATUS link, located at the top of the Main Website Profile Information window, to take you to the page with your tracking code on it. Then simply Copy & Paste the tracking code as described above.

To view your Google Analytics click on the VIEW REPORT link. It contains a wealth of information about your website and its visitors. Don't be put off by the amount of data, which can be overwhelming to a beginner, as the bulk of it is easy enough to understand. Just click on the links to the left of the page and see what data you can digest.

( abc.com/this_is_beginner_link.html ). This link make some sense. And search engines can easily find it for search results.

When talking about one of the most important factor of the SEO, we talk about the title of the page. By looking at the title of your page in search engine results, people should be able to make decision about the kind of content they have in store on that page for them. So again include your main keywords in your title, but don’t make it spammy by including too many keywords or by making it read as gibberish.

If you want your post to appear on search engines for certain keywords then make sure that these keywords appear often in your post as i mentioned in previous post that search engine ranks your pages on the basis of no of keywords in your website.

You can use no of keywords generator tools for your site. The Google Keyword Tool is a popular tool for finding keywords for your website. You can also find the popularity of keyword in public. So Select the popular keywords for your site.

But be careful, don’t use the keywords too much or the search engine spider may suspect spam. And if you are creating friendly content, have your keywords in your content where they fit in naturally. And please keep your keyword density lower than 2 percent!

3-- Quality Links

It is important that your blog is linked from various high quality websites, as this will increase your number of backlinks (link to a previous post) which has great SEO benefits

At the same time, if your site is linked to undesirable sites such as link farms, bad neighborhoods, etc. then it will have a negative effect on your search engine rankings.

4-- Create and Submit Your Sitemap

Sitemap is page of your site which contains all links and data of your website or blog. In other words you can say that sitemap is a summery of your website. In blogger and some other sites can automaticaly create your sitemap and you have to submit your sitemap to search engines so whenever you make a new post on your site it will automatically comes into your sitemap and your search engine crowl it for sitemap. You donot need to submit again and again each site link to search engine.

If you donot have sitemap and donot know how to create it then there are many websites in which you have to submit your website or blog address then they will automatically create sitemap for your website.

5-- Use of Image Alt Tag

Always add an ALT tag to your images when you insert an image. This is important as there is a lot of traffic that is to be gained from indexed images as well.

An ALT tag is basically an alternative description of your image and it is crawled by search engine spiders.

Using ALT text with an image is important as people will be able to see some text when they are having image off on their systems or when see in an email body. And in the absence of ALT text, they will not get any information about the image you placed on a page or email content if they don’t prefer seeing image from an email or page they browse.

6-- Interlinking Your own Pages

Bloggers are so obsessed with getting quality links from other blogs that they forget that the most basic step of SEO: interlinking pages.

This can do a number of things for you. By interlinking, you are basically selecting keywords in your article and linking them to another page on your blog. You can do this with old articles, pages on your blog, etc. This increases the pageviews on your blog, and makes it easier for search engines to travel deep into your blog.

7-- Page Descriptions

When you’re looking at any search result in Google, the non-bold text under the page title is a “page description.” Google allows you to utilize 155 characters for your page description. Use the same rules as the page titles tip, but also think of these 155 characters as a mini-ad for the content that’s on the specific page your optimizing. To follow up on the Raleigh, NC accountant example above, your page description may be: “Acme Accounting and Bookkeeping is a local Raleigh, NC firm specializing in accounting, write up, bookkeeping, payroll and tax preparation services.” That’s 148 characters that contains both a perfect description of your home page, which is also keyword rich.

8-- More Pages - More Traffic

Now there is a last tip for beginners that More Pages means more content, more content means more keywords, more keywords means more chance of being ranked by google. So be patient, it takes months for any website to bring traffic. It does not means that having all things mentioned above can bring your website on top in searches. So it takes little time.
